We operate our appointments on a pre-booking system. Bookings are made at one appointment for the next. New clients will always be accommodated and an appointment given within a week wherever possible.
If you are considering joining us as a client it would be of great help to us, if possible, if you could contact us at the beginning of your horses shoeing cycle and pre-booking. This ensures that your horses shoeing cycle is not altered and that we can give you a date that it suitable for you.
To promote soundness in the horse and prevent lameness we require our clients to have their horses shod at regular intervals. We will work with you as the client to come up with a shoeing plan that suits your individual horse(s). Although some horses need shod at 3 to 4 weeks the majority usually have a shoeing cycle of 6 weeks. We do have clients that request bookings in excess of 6 weeks but we must stress that we do not endorse a cycle of any longer than 8 weeks. This is purely for the welfare of the horse as normal hoof growth over an 8 week period becomes detrimental to the horse in many ways.
Client appointments are available on site;
Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. (excluding public holidays)
Out with standard business hours
Appointments are available for horses to be brought to the Forge outside of standard business hours and are available ONLY by prior arrangement and are available

Bookings can be made via telephone by calling the office on 07808 714 243 (Monday to Friday 9am to 7pm, excluding public holidays**) where Ashley will be happy to help or alternatively you can book an appointment by emailing bookings@correctivefarrier.com
If contacting me by telephone you may get the answering machine if we are unable to get to the phone. If this is the case then please leave a message and we will call you back as soon as we can.
Please remember to leave your name and contact number if you leave a message. Its amazing the number of people that don't!
To make my business run efficiently I run a pre-booking system. By booking an appointment for your horse in advance you will ensure that your horse is seen on a regular basis. This will ensure that it is shod for when you need it most!
Of course pre-booking is purely optional. If however you wish to phone for an appointment then I'm afraid I cannot guaranteed that I will have any available spaces. You may have to wait up to three weeks from contacting me for an appointment.

In the case of a lost shoe then I aim to have it replaced within two days of being notified (excluding weekends and public holidays). However, on occasion this may not always be quick enough. In such a case then you are always welcome to bring the horse to me on an evening. Another option is to meet me at a yard when I am there. This would obviously have to be acceptable to the yard owner but is something that usually works well in past experience.

In the case of a lame horse, then I do try to see them the same day although this is not always possible. In such a case then I will get to you the next working day. If however the lameness is severe and I am unable to attend that day then calling your Vet may be the best course of action to take for the well being of your horse.

Please note that you will get a quicker response contacting us by phone on 07808 714 243 rather than email. This may be more beneficial to your horse if it is in pain.
*Not available every Saturday. Please call for availability
** If a message is left on a weekend or public holiday that relates to a horse that is in pain or is suffering with an injury/problem that urgent Farriery could aid its recovery then your call will be returned as soon as the message is received. If this is the case dropping us an email at the same time may be beneficial as we may be able to check our email quicker.
Please remember that if there is a puncture wound to the hoof or a lameness is not obviously Farriery related then you should consult with your Veterinary Surgeon.
During the times we are closed for business we
will always provide an emergency service.
This service is for horses that are lame or that require emergency
Farriery treatment and that are referred to us by a Veterinary
Surgeon. Lost shoes may also be replaced during
these times but at the discretion of the member of staff who is on
duty at that time.
If you have an emergency then please contact
us by emailing info@correctivefarrier.com or by calling on 07808 714
243. (If there is no answer then please leave a message).
